Oops I did not know!

Today we went to church early (7 am) and I notice some slight changes such as there are dress codes now being implemented in the church. I was wearing shorts at the time and I did not realize that it is improper clothing. Well the shorts I am wearing is not really very very short so it does not concerned me. When we are already inside my sister had whispered to me that my attire is not allowed during mass. But I cannot do anything about it since our house is not that near from the church and I want to attend the mass. I do not normally wear shorts in the church but due to the increasing number of people who wears it other churches like the ones in Singapore, I thought that hey my get-up is not half as indecent as them. But then while I was queuing for my turn for communion, the lay minister told me that I cannot receive host because of what I am wearing and that I should go back next time. Well I immediately went back to my seat embarrassed but I realize that is just right because that shows how serious they are in implementing this very good policy. But then I think I should have been given a first warning considering that I have not gone to that church for a year now. I hope that other churches will also have such policy and that people start dressing decently in mass.

Christmas 2009

Merry Christmas to all! This Christmas my mom made her specialty Caldereta and Lech flan while my aunt gave us grilled tuna panga (jaw) and bihon (noodle). I am hoping that we could have a reunion during Christmas time in the future even though most of us children have families of our own.

Love for food

I was inspired by the movie "Julie and Julia" which is about the true stories of two human beings Julia Child and Julie Powell. The movie depicts the life of Julia Child in France as she discovers her love for French food leading her to learning French cooking and eventually becoming an author and TV personality. Julie Powell, on the other hand, is a government employee who loves to cook. She created a blog where she can share to people her skills as a writer and her struggles in creating dishes from the cookbook by Julia Child. I have read some of her posts in her blog however I have not read her book. While her blog is interesting it is sometimes difficult for me to follow what she meant because of her literary styles. I guess writers are like that. I hope that using this blog I could share to people my love for food and the challenge that I face as I become a good cook (specially now that I am married).
